SAFE TRAVEL TO CONVENTION ON WINTER ROADS

Please make plans to travel safely to teachers’ convention. If you are not able to make it to your assigned convention, your collective agreement may include impassable roads or inclement weather clauses that could be accessed. If your collective agreement does not include language specific to road conditions or weather, you may make use of the personal leave clauses of your agreement in most cases. Please be aware that using any of these types of leave may require you to pay substitute costs, forego a portion of your salary and benefits, or report to your school or another work location in your district. Refer to your collective agreement for more information.

Should you require any additional information or if you need assistance interpreting your collective agreement, please contact the Association’s Teacher Employment Services Duty Officer at 1-800-232-7208 or 780-447-9400.

WE CARE A LATTE!
Together, we can make a difference. Please consider donating $5 (the cost of a latte) to help The Boyle Street Community put an end to homelessness.  Cite “We Care a Latte” as the fundraiser, and NCTCA as the organization to help us see the total from our teachers.

Drum circle and Music Activities (no musical experience required)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Using over 60 drums and other percussion instruments from around the world, participants will learn how to drum, conduct rhythm games, teach songs in four languages, and demonstrate dance moves and body percussions. Louise will introduce an approach to cognitive training helping children tap into their inner creativity, and discover the soothing effect of rhythm. When you are part of a drum circle, you are part of something bigger than yourself! You will acquire new instruction methods and the necessary tools to encourage children to explore the intersection of music, rhythm, and community. The workshop culminates in improvisational activities that you can use to stimulate children's cognitive development.
