SAFE TRAVEL TO CONVENTION ON WINTER ROADS Please make plans to travel safely to teachers’ convention. If you are not able to make it to your assigned convention, your collective agreement may include impassable roads or inclement weather clauses that could be accessed. If your collective agreement does not include language specific to road conditions or weather, you may make use of the personal leave clauses of your agreement in most cases. Please be aware that using any of these types of leave may require you to pay substitute costs, forego a portion of your salary and benefits, or report to your school or another work location in your district. Refer to your collective agreement for more information.
Should you require any additional information or if you need assistance interpreting your collective agreement, please contact the Association’s Teacher Employment Services Duty Officer at 1-800-232-7208 or 780-447-9400. WE CARE A LATTE!
Together, we can make a difference. Please consider donating $5 (the cost of a latte) to help The Boyle Street Community put an end to homelessness. Cite “We Care a Latte” as the fundraiser, and NCTCA as the organization to help us see the total from our teachers.

Greg Jeffery succeeded to the position of past president of the Alberta Teachers’ Association in 2019 following two years of service as president, four years of service as vice-president and 10 years of service as district representative for Edmonton District. In those capacities, he has chaired the Association’s Central Table Bargaining Committee, the Finance Committee, the Resolutions Committee, the Political Engagement Committee, the CTF (Canadian Teachers’ Federation) Committee, the Membership Eligibility Board and the Standing Committee on Public Education. Greg has been engaged in Association governance since his first year of teaching, serving four years as president, three years as teacher welfare (formerly economic policy) committee chair and eight years as secretary of Elk Island Local and ambassador for Fort Saskatchewan. A math and band teacher in Fort Saskatchewan, Greg is a previous winner of an APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) Teacher Award. Unfortunately, we were unable to properly acknowledge our 2022 Honorary President recipient because we are online. Greg Jeffery has been a tireless advocate for teachers in his many roles, including President, and a longstanding member of NCTCA in his various roles. His dedication to NCTCA and the profession has been outstanding.
